Phineas and Ferb

This past week I had a special request from Idaho for some cupcake toppers. My friend's son was turning 2 and he LOVES Phineas and Ferb, so of course I had to do it. I did a couple dozen fondant toppers of his favorite character Perry the Platypus, and sent them on their way to get there for his birthday party.
My sister, and favorite business partner, made the cupcakes for them to go on. She did chocolate cupcakes with a caramel filling and peanut butter frosting... Amazing! I think these turned out perfect for his party. Thanks for the help on the other end Michelle!

Winnie the Pooh Baby Shower

This weekend I made a baby shower cake with a Winnie the Pooh theme. I was able to make a two tiered cake into a scene out of the cartoon. Grass, flowers, clouds, bees, and Winnie the Pooh's red balloon! Let's not forget about Pooh and his honey pot. :)
To top it off, the mom to be wanted a homemade vanilla cake with a fresh strawberry filling. Delicious! I wish I were at the baby shower to eat the cake with them!

Here are a couple pictures of the final product!

Wedding Cakes, Wedding Cakes, Wedding Cakes!

Just a quick post to show you some pictures of the recent wedding cakes that I have made. Hope you are having a great day!

Carrot Cake Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Frosting

This week was my mother in law's birthday and every year she requests the same thing... my homemade carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. This year my in laws went camping for her birthday so a full cake seemed to be a little too much to take, so I opted to turn them into cupcakes And they made the BEST cupcakes! This is definitely the best carrot cake recipe I have ever made, or tried for that matter. It has shredded carrots, crushed pineapple and walnut pieces in it to give it a decadent texture. I'd love to give you the recipe, but you will just have to take my word for it and order some from me!

Red Balloon 1st Birthday

What a fun party! When I showed up at the photography studio to drop off the birthday cake and cupcakes, I loved what I saw. This one year old was going to have such a fantastic party. There was a snow cone booth, a cotton candy machine, a full dessert table, a bounce house.... And the list goes on. And since the party was being held at the family's photography studio, the guests were welcomed to do their own photo shoots for fun during the party. What a great idea! I wish I was a friend who was invited to this party instead of being a vendor.

The party's theme was "Red Balloons," so that is what we based the cake and cupcakes on. We did a one tier cake and mini red balloon topped cupcakes for the guests and birthday boy to enjoy. The twist was that the cake had to be gluten/dairy/egg free. I have never baked with all of those restrictions, so it took some creative thinking to figure out how to make a delicious cake AND frosting without those ingredients. Well, after plenty of research and help from my friends, I figured it out, I was able to make a very moist chocolate cake and "butter" cream frosting. It was definitely interesting to figure out, but such fun to decorate!

Caleb's 1st Birthday Party

About 3 weeks ago, my baby boy, had his FIRST birthday! I can't believe how quick the time went by... Makes me sad that he's already over a year old. Wow! So for his birthday, we decided to do a pirate theme. It was so cute and fun, and fit us perfect.

We did it down at the park in our neighborhood. The weather was perfect, our awesome friends and family came, Caleb ran around and played the whole time... And then he piled a whole cupcake in his mouth! It probably couldn't have been a more perfect party.  We all had a blast and are so thankful to everybody who came and made it so fun.

So, of course, my favorite part to a party is the food! I did a 2 tier pirate cake, oreo cupcakes with cream cheese oreo frosting, chocolate and vanilla covered pretzels, and (my favorite) chocolate and vanilla covered rice krispie treats! The cake was incredibly fun to do. I definitely love being able to make new cake creations that I've never done before. The cupcakes were also a new recipe I had never made before, and they turned out so moist and delicious! Definitely a recipe that will be made again. As for the pretzels and rice krispies... I think they spoke for themselves when there were none left at the end of the party! lol Those are so fun because they can be color themed for any party or event.

Here's a couple pictures from the party.

Blogging... Day 1!

Well, after a lot of time and thought, I've decided to create my own blog! I was a little apprehensive at first, due to the fact that I figured blogging would either take precedent over cleaning the house, or just the opposite and I would never get any blogs written, but in the end decided that baking and cake decorating is my passion, and what a better way to document and share everything I do than with my own online journal...

So here I am, using Caleb's naptime to write my first blog instead of do the dishes... It's happening already! (Casey may not enjoy the idea of me having a blog by the end of the week).

Well, just wanted to send my first hello, and I'll be back with a new update soon!
